Prepared and reported to the Chief Executive and Board of Directors on the manual systems and processes across the company highlighting areas of weakness, notably within the IT, Finance and Administration functions with suggested actions for improvement and change.

Role extended as Systems Manager with responsibility for the IT Department. The Group had a number of disparate complete & semi-complete software programmes and structures resulting in the Group not being well supported by the IT function. The initial challenge was managing the department to successfully deliver these. This resulted in a change of strategy away from in-house bespoke programmes towards implementing a CRM programme spanning the business. Reported to the Board with recommendations and short listed three packages to consider. Proposed a new Group IT structure and recruited the Group IT Manager to oversee and manage the IT strategy. Handled all Human Resource procedures.

Reviewed the mix of different marketing approaches used within the Group (Tele-appointing, Pre-appointing and Diary Management), their structures across the country and related field costs. Calculated the variations in the selling and distribution costs per sale. Reported to the Board of Directors with recommendations for change, which has resulted in the plan to consolidate activities and reduce the duplication of effort and cost.

Due diligence processes, successfully completing on two out of three prospective companies resulting in the Group acquiring them. Handled preparation, signing and exchange of agreements. Post acquisition led the establishment and merge of the two companies into one new legal entity.

11/01 – 12/01 The Baltic Exchange - Premier international shipping brokerage market.
Investigated the member’s facilities at the Baltic Exchange. Redrafted budget and forecast; recommended changes in reporting structure and responsibilities; initiated and implemented reporting requirements to improve accountability and control.

Reviewed the financial controls to improve overall asset management. Role extended to implement recommendations and training.

Acting Chief Financial Officer for the Financial Systems Group, based in Hampshire with overseas operations in Guernsey and USA. Preparation and consolidation of monthly and year-end accounts meeting Group and external auditors requirements, achieving clean audit status. Transferred on appointment of new Financial Officer.
