Roland Berger is the largest global strategy consultancy with a European origin. Having initially joined the transportation team in the newly-opened London office, I moved to the restructuring and corporate finance team in Berlin after two years. Following three promotions, I was managing complex assignments and generating new business.

- Developed a growth strategy for a global tier-1 automotive group with €2bn revenues, which returned to profitability within one year and was successfully sold to a private equity investor
- Implemented a consolidation strategy for an international electronics manufacturer, focusing on core strengths and withdrawal from unprofitable sectors. Despite the loss of major contracts to Asia and reduction in revenue from €1000m to €500m, the company substantially improved profitability and cash flow. It was eventually acquired by a competitor
- Divested the international holdings of a US construction industry subcontractor and obtained additional $50m new financing for subsequent growth
- Repositioned a brand-name consumer electronics manufacturer, and arranged sale of business by making use of insolvency protection laws. Having escaped large and potentially existence-threatening liabilities, the company is now growing
- Managed the post-merger integration of a European energy supplier
- Undertook the reorganization of a major European airline, including definition of new business processes
- Managed the change program at a European utility achieving multi-million cost savings
