o Realignment of a Swiss logistic: Ensuring business continuity and high service level after implementation of SAP earlier last year.

o Working out and implementing an operational and personal concept for „Logistikzentrum Dübendorf“, which included following execution steps:
Assessment of the organization, reduction of personnel (15%), process- and quality improvements. Intensive leadership and coaching were necessary to accompany the change process. In addition, precise and careful proceedings were necessary due to very high complexity of processes und organization’s structure (150'000 Prod-ucts, stand-alone warehouse management system with SAP interface).
o Performance Management: Development and implementation of performance metrics and KPI’s.

Swiss site of US corporation; specialty chemicals and high technology field.
o Technical Site Management, lead of engineering, maintenance, SHE-departments and waste water treatment plant. Responsible for long term investment planning and execution of all capital investments (annual budget CHF 9-15 Mio) with the goal to strengthen the site’s competitiveness and market position.
o Project management: lead of numerous complex cross-functional projects (organization, equipment, buildings, IT, i.e. concept and basic engineering of a new cGMP manu¬facturing plant). Lead and management of safety organizations (contingency team, fire brigades, stand-by-for technical emergency).
o Lead of worldwide logistics (>25’000 Products in different pack sizes). Systematic process improvements (PDSA / Deming) along the supply chain resulted in steady productivity increase in the period 1998-2004 (the same logistics headcount): No of Products 19'000  25'000 /+30%; Sales CHF: Mio. 120  160 / +33%., production department 4.5% p.a. Improved service perfor¬mance: Same day shipment’s rate in Switzerland (already best in class) was increased from 45% up to > 85%. Development and implementation of sourcing strategy for consolidated packaging material and consumables in Europe.
o Leadership and development of the organization (Change Management), in order to handle operational pressure and challenges in a positive way. Significant decrease of the absence rate of the employees was achieved (> 45%). Implementation of company’s new safety culture (DuPont–System) resulted in strong decrease of injuries and accidents (> 90%) and annual savings of several hundred thousand CHF as well.
o Responsible for SAP-R/3-Implementation with very high project complexity (all SAP modules, > 50'000 of SAP-products).
o Company’s official representative and contact to authorities, federations and organizations for legal, technical, logistic and security matters. Development of “Environmental Long Range Implementation Plan” in cooperation with Environmental Agency (AFU, SG) for timely implementation of all legal requirements harmonized with business needs. Also active as industry representative in external committees, i.e. electricity market liberalisation, group for industrial waste water. Lead of Responsible Care-Program.

Head of production 1990 – 1998
Head of several plant units dedicated to production of pharmaceutical highly active substances and intermediate products with a total sales contribution of approx. CHF 800 Mio. / year. Very complex (16 steps) processes with total production lead time of 2 years.
o Planning, production and personnel management according to the demand requirements. Main focus on product quality (cGMP, API’s incl. Parenteralia), economy and safety. Validation of processes and cleaning processes, qualification of installations and equipment.
o Great increase in production efficiency and realization of significant cost savings through personnel reduction (>40%) and simultaneous increase of the volume produced by application of best practice methods: JIT-Production in work cells (products dedicated multi purpose equipment), lean production, pull-principle, value flow streamlining, Kaizen, TQM, TPM. Team oriented leadership with several active quality circles.
o Development, registration and plant implementation of economically and ecologically attractive new production processes. cGMP and regulatory affairs expertise, well conducted audits (IKS, FDA).
o First productions of API’s (active pharmaceutical intermediates) for clinical studies on behalf of the chemical development.

Head of development labs and head of safety laboratory 1988 – 1990
o Successful conclusion of process development of the future Blockbusters, in order to start the production in time. New synthesis steps were registered by European patent office in Den Hague.
o Head of the safety laboratory of “Chemical Production Pharma Switzerland” and its integration into the new created “Central safety labs” of the corporation.
