6th January 1981 – 31st December 1981: Market researcher and marketing co-ordinator
for a top research boutique in the European Union: S.C.I.E.N.C.E. in Brussels.

Main achievements:
contributions to studies like “Le Marché de Granulés de Plastique Recyclée en Europe” for C.R.I.F. Liège, “Akzeptierung der Kernenergie bei Verschiedenen Zielgruppen” for Kernforschungsanlage Jülisch in Germany and “Etude de Faisabilité pour le Compactage du Papyrus au Rwanda” for the European Centre de Développement Industriel. I also got involved in the first check out system with barcode scanning in the Euopean Community’s supermarket in Brussels.
Sales and sales management for a three person team of sales engineers selling thermal studies and energy savings programs for large organisations.

15th January 1982 - 1st February 1983: Sales Executive for ITT Promedia

Main achievement: sold on target (€ 750.000 per year).

1st February 1983 – 31st July 1986: Sales Promotion Manager
for Neckermann Mailorder in Hulst, the Netherlands and Frankfurt, Germany.

Main achievement:
Turnover in 1983: NLG 81 million, turnover in 1986: NLG 143 million, growing the Dutch company faster than any of its competitors. Introduced the first mail order PC sales in the Benelux, France and Germany.




1st August 1986 – 30th June 1996: General Manager of a marketing and communication agency BVW & Partners

Main achievements:
Grew a business from 0 to € 4 million without any venture capital or friendly business angels (customers: Unilever, Nutricia, Solvay, Kettler,…)
Established the European headquarters with a business plan, staffing, housing, etc… for the New Zealand Kiwifruit Marketing Board
Co-developed one comprehensive SFA and direct marketing software “Micro Direct” which was successfully sold in Scandinavia and the Netherlands in the period 1986 – 1989 and in 1990 – 1993 I worked on a C.R.M. package on Informix which lives on as an O.E.M. product in WOCAS/X a Dutch software for Public Housing Societies (“Woningbouwcoöperaties”)


30th June 1996 – 31st May 1997: General Manager of an ICT conference organisation
Talash Conference Management in Antwerp.

Main achievements:
Grew a profitable small business with two members of staff
Got in professors and gurus from the States like Bill Inmon, Ralph Kimball, Pieter Mimno, Larry English, Ken Orr and what have you.



15th May 1997 – August 2000 Marketing Director and Director Business Consulting of an ICT conglomerate.

This group of companies consists of a training unit (Quest for Knowledge of Q4K), a high profile consulting organisation (Newcom Information Systems). Together with insourcing capabilities and marketing capabilities, this group serves as an incubator for new technologies in the field of C.R.M., E-Business, data warehousing and business intelligence, enterprise application integration and knowledge management.
The first egg that hatched was a U.S. end-to-end datawarehouse/BI tool Sagent Benelux.

Emerging Technology Ventures has grown from an MBO vehicle to a machine that is now ready for either a take over or an IPO I remain, until August 2001, a member of the Board.

Main achievements:
grow a business from € 400,000 in Dec. 1996 to €3.7 million in Dec. 2000 and from 15 people (of which 13 had to be dismissed) in May 1997 to 40 people in 2000.
establish a unique positioning beating larger organisations like Andersen Consulting, CAP Gemini, Origin,…
develop a new methodology to marry the business drivers and –strategies with the latest technology
