Responsible for the delivery of consultancy services to a major Rail client and for the development of the business through effective management of the client relationship (essentially an account management role), growing the business from a 4 to a 7 million pound + business over the space of a year). The quality of the relationship can be judged by the client’s view that CMG represented his “Most Trusted Supplier”.

Contribution

Managed the successful delivery of services to the client and increased the volume of delivered business by almost 100% through the year, supported by a small account team and a team of around 60 on site consultants.

Associate Director (Technology Channels) January 2001 – November 2001

Responsible for the provision of consultancy services for technology companies, both directly and, in the form of complementary services, through them to their clients.

Contribution
Managed the successful delivery of around 3 million pounds of ICT services directly to high technology companies and through them to their customers. A key contributor was the delivery of specialist CMG payroll resource to assist with a payroll migration. This engagement alone was worth over £1Million during the year.

Admiral plc 1988 - 2000

Project: Change Management November 1999-December 1999

Admiral was asked to provide change management consultancy to a project aiming to address a major industrial client’s needs in respect of a change to specific aspects of their business management procedures. The change was driven by the need to satisfy the requirements of condition 36 of the Nuclear Installation Inspectorate’s (NII) licence to operate a Nuclear Installation. (NII is responsible for regulating the safety aspects of Nuclear Installations in the UK and is a part of the Health and Safety Executive).

Contribution

Tim provided advice and guidance on the change management aspects of drafting a procedure to meet the new condition, which relates to the management of organisational change. He is able to combine his knowledge of change management with an understanding of process improvement to provide the client with valuable support in meeting the NII’s requirement without prejudicing business needs. The task involved the preparation and facilitation of three workshops and assisting in the preparation of documentation for delivery to the NII.


Project: Various August 1999-December 1999

Admiral was engaged in providing consultancy services to a major multinational IT organisation. Admiral has a long standing association with the corporation and regarded it as one of its most important customers.

Contribution

Tim performed the function of Admiral’s Account Manager for the client providing them with a single point of contact for their dealings with Admiral. He was responsible for maintaining the relationship between the two organisation and for the effective management of any issues which developed. He also fulfilled a man-management role for the consultants on site. This was a proactive role in which Tim was expected to help by identifying those areas with which Admiral was able to assist promoting a close, mutually beneficial relationship.

Project: Programme Management Support February 1997-August 1999

A water utility required assistance in the management of a business change programme aimed at delivering changes to business process accompanied by systems implementations and including the replacement or conversion of systems known not to be year 2000 compliant. Admiral’s involvement in the programme followed naturally from a review of Wessex’s proposed technical strategy to implement component based solutions using Microsoft Windows-NT and SQL Server database technology. The project team comprises a core programme management team, supported by project managers and analysts as required.

Contribution

Business Architect, supporting the programme manager by providing insight into the overall solution. Responsible for identifying and analysing inter-project issues and for promoting the development of solutions to meet the broader programme need. On site project management for the Admiral team, ensuring that resource requirements from Admiral were met quickly and effectively.

Project: Consultancy June 1996 - December 1996

An important medical charitable trust required consultancy to develop and deliver training in Relational Database technology and Client Server architecture. The training was followed by further consultancy to provide analysis of the business requirements and a data model for a department responsible for the management of a scientific photographic collection relating to Tropical disease and international health issues. On completion of the analysis Admiral was retained to manage and support the implementation of a systems solution to the business requirements identified by the analysis.

Contribution

Development and delivery of training material, lead role in business and logical data analysis, management of system procurement and implementation.


Project: Business Analysis - DML May 1995 - April 1996

Admiral was retained to provide analysis support to the IT department of a major commercial ship repair and refit organisation. The focus of the support consists of a business change programme which re-engineers the application of IT across the whole company. Admiral consultants provide expertise in all areas of the system development life cycle, including:

Business Analyst responsible for handling initial analysis of all requirements for changes to the Cashless Services Database (CSDB) for a major telecommunication company.

The development of an Automated Underwriting System for a major finance house. The system will provide assistance with authorisation of loans in the Commercial Business sector.

Requirements authority responsible for analysis and documentation of system requirements. Included preparation of board level presentations to explain proposed solution. Responsible for day-to-day running of project team and client liaison during the requirements analysis.

Project: Billing to Commercial Credit Card - Telecomms March 1994 - July 1994

Specification, design and development of a Bespoke Oracle database system to take charging information and generate invoices. The system had a very large database (up to 100 gigabytes) and had to be capable of processing in excess of 1 million invoices.

Contribution:

Requirements authority responsible for gathering and documenting requirements using a RAD approach to the requirements analysis process.

Project: Training Development and Delivery September 1992 - March 1994

Admiral Training produced bespoke training materials using a variety of media ranging from conventional `stand-up' training to computer based training lessons.

Contribution:

Delivered IT training material as part of a major IT literacy program developed for a UK Government department.
Managed the production of a suite of distance learning material for a major British Industrial client. The suite included workbooks, CBT lessons, interactive video and a training video on industrial safety. The material was produced by a team of 5 specialists transferred in to Admiral from the client’s own Distance Learning unit.

Project: R & RE Conversion September 1992 - September 1992

To convert an existing Asset Management System from a mainframe to a Windows environment using PC-Workstations in a client-server architecture.

Contribution:

Team member responsible for generation of functional descriptions for inclusion in Functional Specification. The specification was specifically targeted to make use of the PowerBuilder application tool development.

Project: Materials Management System December 1990 - August 1992

To produce enhancements required for an integrated material management system within a major commercial organisation involved in ship and submarine refits.
Contribution:

Team leader responsible for the implementation of enhancements required to stabilise an integrated materials management system in use within a major commercial vessel refit complex. The system was implemented using Cobol, Rdb, ACMS and TDMS in a clustered DEC VAX environment. Responsible for the introduction of configuration management procedures across the development and production of technical documentation describing the database design and TP architecture and production of comprehensive User Guides.

Business Analyst responsible for systems advice on all aspects of Materials Systems Requirements. Project Leader responsible for implementation of interfaces between PC coded Stores Stock Management system integrated Materials Management system and Factory MRP system, both implemented on DEC VAX hardware platforms.
