Hazlewood Hansen - Van der Veen bv , Enkhuizen, The Netherlands. Managing Director. Part of the Fish Division of Hazlewood Foods Plc. Hazlewood Foods was acquired by Greencore in the beginning of 2001 and the Fish Division, incl. Hansen - Van der Veen, were sold at the end of 2001. Company specialised in the processing and marketing of MAP packed chilled fish products and fish based meal components. Total staff 60-70 persons. Annual turnover 14 million Euro. Of the turnover about 80% is exported to large fish distributors and multiple retail outlets in Belgium (Carrefour Belgium), Germany (Wal*Mart and Edeka), Switzerland (Migros and Coop) and France (Carrefour France). Hansen – Van der Veen is BRC (High Level) and HACCP certified. Responsible for finance, production, logistics finance, sales and marketing and delvelopment/introduction of new product concepts.

February 1995 - March 1995
Ecotech Resource bv, Haarlem, The Netherlands.
Consultant. Member of the team of consultants working on the Aral Sea Wetland Restoration Project in Uzbekistan. This project is financed by the World Bank and assigned to a consortium of Euroconsult bv and Ecotech Resource bv and studied the socio-economical aspects, hydrology and water management, land use, aquaculture and fisheries. All focussed on enabling sustainable regional developments.

1988 - 1994
HVA Group of Companies, Diemen, The Netherlands. Division Manager. HVA was one of the larger international contractors and consultants in the field of agro-industrial and agricultural projects. The HVA Group of Companies had a turn-over of around 45 - 90 million Euro. The activities of HVA were consultancy, preparation of bankable reports, turn-key construction and management of agricultural and animal husbandry projects, procurement of project requirements, trade in agricultural commodities and participation in supply tenders. During my employment with HVA I have worked or performed missions in Spain, Greece, Denmark, Costa Rica, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana and Saudi Arabia.

1985 - 1988
Managing director. Texvis bv, Oudeschild (Texel), The Netherlands. With Texvis a large industrial marine fish culture project was realised, using a recirculation system for the production of 250 tonnes per annum of eel, trout and sea bream. The total staff amounted to 14 people. Annual turn-over 2 million Euro. Sales of finished product to buyers in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Italy.

1983 - 1985
Project manager and consultant
Centrilab bv, Soest, The Netherlands
This consultancy company had two main activities, each with its own general manager:

1) Chemical analytical and microbiological diagnostic
services for industry and government
2) Consultancy and engineering related to environmental
pollution by the activities of intensive
animal husbandry projects

The annual turn-over of this company was at that time around 9 million Euro with a staff of 24 persons. I worked on aquaculture issues and was responsible for 1-4 staff members, depending on the type of project under execution.

1980 - 1983
Nutritionist. Research and Development Department of
Trouw International (BP Nutrition),
Group including Hendrix Voeders and Skretting in Norway,
(presently operating under the name Nutreco). In this job I became responsible for the co-ordination of the feed research program and organisation of feed trials at the research farms in The Netherlands, Italy, France and Norway. I did research on the activity and efficacy
of various feed additives following processing in the feed mill.
