Work Experience

In 1982 he began his career at the Royal Household of H.M the Queen of the Netherlands as chef de bureau of the Lord Chamberlain. Apart from operational tasks such as the organization of incoming and outgoing State Visits: Denmark, Norway, Germany, Italy. He contributed to a professional attitude towards managing the royal household after the change of throne. In 1988 he became facility manager at Nyenrode University in Breukelen, where he was responsible for the reorganization of existing services and the set-up and implementation of a facilitary business. During a change of ownership of the University he reduced the staff of the facilities from 100 to approximately 20 employees. In this period there was a strong accent of changes in personnel during a critical turn-around situation.

In 1993 he was appointed assistant-director and later became director of the VSB Circus theatre in The Hague, one of the largest theaters in the Netherlands. The city of The Haque sold the theatre to Endemol Entertainment. Paul transformed the personnel organisation structure of the governmental theatre into a succesfull business unit of Endemol Entertainment. VSB Circus theatre grew to be one of the most successful event and entertainment locations of the country with over a million visitors a year, thanks to theatre productions such as ‘Phantom of the opera’ and ‘Miss Saigon’.

In 1997 he became CEO of the holding WTC Amsterdam, where he saw to a large-scale renovation and doubling of the office space to 120.000 m2. In this position he was responsible for drawing up and executing the program of demands concerning the offices, retail, catering and meeting accommodations. One of the main goals was to improve the efficiency of the management. Therefore het started a process of outsourcing of several support activities and the transfer of personnel to specialised commercial companies.WTC Amsterdam is the largest multi-functional accommodation of the Netherlands. Paul is also member of the European Facility Management Network “EuroFM” and member of the Committee of Facilities and Functions of the World Trade Centers Association, New York.

In 2002 Paul and Geert resigned at the World Trade Centers and started a new company. This company is active in the field of consultancy and management for profit and non-profit organizations in the fields of facility management, real estate management and concept development for buildings. Some of the clients: Bouwfonds Development, MAB Project Development, BPF Bouwinvest (pensionfund), Rabo Real Estate, Johan Matser Development, Delta Lloyd Real Estate, GGZ Dijk en Duin and GGZ Noord Holland noord (psychiatry), De Doelen Rotterdam (concert and congress building) and Bosch Benelux. In 2003 Paul and Geert developed a plan for a new start and friendly take over of WTC Eindhoven.





They got support from the local authorities in Eindhoven (City of Eindhoven, Eindhoven region, Chamber of Commerce) and permission from the Board of the WTCA in New York.



Education

Paul (1959) studied Facility Management at the National Academy of Nieuw-Rollecate in Deventer and Government Administration (1982) and Political Science at the Free University of Amsterdam (1991). He participated in the Advanced Management Program at Nyenrode University (1999-2000).
