Expertise in materials, purchasing, production and quality management, operations planning, capital engineering, warehousing and distribution. Particular skills include:

Career History:

 June 99 to July 03 - Operations Director, Kingsland Wines and Spirits

Responsible to the MD for the complete supply chain for a £180m t/o business producing bottled wines and spirits for the major multiples to ISO, BRC and IIP standards, with the primary objective of the modernisation of operations and the development of team culture to achieve low cost producer status.

Achievements :

 Change strategy agreed with the Board and implemented.
 Introduction of operational and purchasing improvements, yielding £650k annual savings.
 Improved operational efficiency, planning, technical and customer service in a demanding and significantly growing own label environment.
 Reorganisation programme implemented generating £400k savings.
 Introduced team KPI’s, skills training, employee briefing and communications network.



 Nov 96 to June 99 - Consultant and Interim Management – assignments include:

 Kingsland Wines and Spirits –April to June 99 Interim Factory Manager, £125m t/o site working on margin improvement and major culture change project.

 Pork Farms Bowyers -July to December 98 - Interim Factory Manager, £45m t/o site and 600 staff, working with the Exec Team on major culture change project and operations efficiency.

 RVP Foods Ltd - 3 week assignment to raise efficiencies on leading edge production line, manufacturing frozen foods.

 2 month assignment at £18m t/o food company reviewing management effectiveness, organisation and communications.

 6 month assignment (P/T) at £20m t/o food company providing project management support for £1m investment. Assisted in specifying, buying, commissioning and plant development.

 1990 to November 96 - Site Director - Kitchen Range Foods

Responsible to MD for Operations at Bakewell Division, Peterborough employing approximately 100 people, making frozen foods for an international fast food chain, in an environment where customer service was critical. Control of materials, manufacturing, engineering, purchasing and employee relations. Management of an annual budget of £7m and £0.5m capital budget.

Achievements:

 Opened a green field site and grew operations to £12m t/o.
 Improved productivity by 15% per annum and materials savings by 6%.
 Achieved savings of £800k per annum.
 Made substantial quality improvements and introduced ISO 9002.
 Successfully introduced MRP 2 and JIT systems.
 Introduction of Team and Continuous Improvement Culture.
 Won 1994 Cranfield CBI/DTI Best Factory Award.

 1986-1989 - Operations Director - Geest Prepared Foods

Responsible to the MD for cost effective operation of two factories employing 600 people on three shifts making chilled foods for ‘own label’ major multiples. Control of materials, manufacturing, engineering, IE, distribution and IR. Managed capital projects of £4m with a budget of £20m. Contributed to company policy and strategy.

Achievements:
 Met increased production demands from £8m to £30m in three years
 Improved productivity by 18%
 Established factory planning and introduced MRP 2
 Introduced new working practices by Union negotiation.
 Designed and built new “high risk” Factory


 Previous Experience:

10 years with Lyons Tetley in senior Production and Factory Manager roles, producing branded tea, coffee, cereal and preserve products.

Achievements:
 £1.2m improvement in materials usage in 2 factories.
 Installed £3m capital improvement programme.
 Negotiated manning and method improvements saving £260k
 First management team to achieve BS 5750 (ISO 9000) in the Food Industry.
