Work Experience

In my last interim-role I shaped the Product Management department of a newly setup demand/supply organisation for a large insurer in the Netherlands. This included developing and implementing new processes for Product Development, and defining long-term visions on several ICT-aspects.

In this role I worked closely with the external supplier to agree programs, contracts, new developments. Those suppliers were KPN and Getronics.

Role and responsibility, in this role:
Reporting to the Vice President IP Networking Products.
Worldwide P&L responsibility with a revenue target of around € 1 Billion.
Managing a team of 30+ telecom product management professionals around the world.
In-life management of BT’s worldwide Data Transport Services portfolio of products.
Define and execute strategy for the product line.
Drive cost-reduction programmes.

Achievements:
Will overachieved revenue target by 10% this fiscal year
Run Profit Improvement Programs generating + €20 Mio additional EBIT for the business in the current financial year
Launched new products in the UK and European market


Period: 1st of April 2001 – 31st July 2003
Employer: BT (-Ignite)
Position: Head of PAN-European Leased Lines
Role and responsibility, in this role:
Reporting to the Vice President Access within the BT-Ignite Products and Marketing organisation. In total I have the responsibility over 12 people over 6 countries within Europe, divided into to sub-teams.
Setting up the PAN-European Leased Line organisation.
P&L responsible with a revenue target of around Euro 350 Mio.
Development of new Leased Line products across Europe.
Harmonisation of the BT-Ignite international proposition.
Harmonisation of the in-country propositions across Europe.
In-life management of the products.
Drive cost-reduction programmes.
Achievements:
Overachieved revenue target by 10%
International harmonised product proposition completed
Established an international team of professionals.


Period: 1st of July 2000 – 31st of March 2001
Employer: Telfort
Position: Manager Infrastructure Services
Role and responsibility, in this role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Fixed Services within the Telfort Products and Marketing organisation. In total managing a team of 8 professionals in The Netherlands.
Product management of all access and infrastructure products of Telfort, including (International) Private Circuits, xDSL, Telehousing, Dark Fiber, Wavelenghts and fiber roll-out programmes.
In-life management and product development of products for the Dutch market.
Total product group revenues of Euro 120 Mio.
Achievements:
Secured funding (Euro 65 Mio) for the roll-out of City Fiber Networks through-out the Netherlands.
Grown the most profitable business of Telfort with 15%.

For my Bachelor degree I have spend 8 months in Sweden (in Västerös) to complete my final thesis with ASEA (ABB today). Furthermore I did some practical work for 3 months for the Dr. Neher Lab in Leidschendam (The Netherlands), which is a research lab for KPN.

After my study I joined the Dutch army to do my mandatory duties for 16 months. I was selected to do an accelerated training to become an officer (ROAG) in the Dutch army. This accelerated training would normally only be available when a university study has been successfully completed, and is the fastest way in the Dutch army to become an officer. I left the army with the rank of lieutenant.

I’m a fully rounded creative general manager with over 18 years experience in Telcoms with sound knowledge of relevant business sciences, like for example product management, business planning, strategy development, marketing, and financial accounting. I take personal proud in my delivery capabilities, my ambitious drive for results, my sound decision making and my direct and straightforward approach. My leadership style can be characterized by directness, honesty and passion. I’m an individual that oversees complex situations easily and have the ability to filter this to its core issues. Furthermore, I’m a strong people manager and a believer in developing people as key assets to the business.
