IT INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT (JULY 2002 – PRESENT)

Epson Europe is in the process of centralizing and consolidating its current IT infrastructure and services in their newly operational Data Centre in Zeist (NL). The Data Centre is to house over 250 servers providing internal IT services and business applications along with extensive B2B and B2C applications.

· Analysis and inventory of existing and projected infrastructure within the Data Centre.
· Quantative analysis of skills and resources required to support and maintain the Data Centre and European network operations
· Definition of IT organizational structure including roles and job descriptions
· Comparison of existing IT skills and resources with new requirements and migration planning




S1 CORPORATION JANUARY 1993 – JUNE 2002

S1 Corporation is the established in front-end, multi-channel software solutions serving the financial services industry. S1 employs over 1,600 people globally in 23 offices with revenue of approximately $300M. S1 Corporation, originally Security First Technologies and based in Atlanta, extended into Europe, Asia and Australia in November 1999 with the acquisition of FICS Group and on to the US west coast with the simultaneous acquisition of Edify Corporation.

IT INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES MANAGER – EMEA REGION (NOVEMBER 1999 – PRESENT)

Following the acquisition of FICS Group, assumed new responsibilities managing IT Infrastructure within the EMEA region and centralising EMEA based IT services.

· Increased IT team to 14 staff to support a projected EMEA headcount of 450. Subsequently successfully rationalised and reduced IT headcount, whilst improving service levels, by centralising IT services and stabilizing infrastructure.
· Played a key design and implementation management role, integrating the FICS WAN and existing Edify and Security First networks.
· Played a major role in the design, planning and management of the roll out of global integrated messaging services, combining Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and Netscape Messaging and LDAP directory.
· Principal player in design and successful implementation of new S1 corporate DNS structure in the majority of S1 locations globally.
· S1 EMEA HQ relocation (6,500m2)– A key figure, instrumental in every stage of building move process: initial requirements definition, selection of site, proposing and realizing a number of strategic building design modifications (both structural and technical), follow up of the construction phase, planning and follow up of building fit out and planning of forthcoming move. Fit out budget of $2.7M. Project was completed on time and significantly under budget.
· Reduced network running costs by over 40% and voice costs by over 30% over 2 years by vendor management.
· Reduced hardware and software maintenance costs by over 25% by vendor management and waste reduction
· Avoided significant infrastructure expense by implementing simple metrics, consolidating technologies and strong vendor management.
· Maintained excellent IT infrastructure stability with key service availability levels over 99.99%
· Designed next generation S1 EMEA WAN based on MPLS technology to support voice, video and priority data applications.
· Supervised EMEA applications team migration from SmartStream to Oracle 10 and from ABT project reporting to Niku V5.
· Reduced corporate travel costs by implementing high quality video conferencing systems.


FICS GROUP NV/SA (Now S1 Corporation) JANUARY 1993 – NOVEMBER 1999

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER – FICS GROUP (1995 – 1999)

· Transferred from FICS’ subsidiary, Abacus Consulting, to head up global IT support team for FICS Group during which time FICS grew from 50 to 650 employees in 15 locations worldwide of which over 300 located in the Brussels headquarters.
· Implemented IT operations support organisation based on global infrastructure standards.
· Delivery of desktop and LAN services. Established and maintained global desktop PC and server standards to meet day-to-day requirements and performance expectations.
· Built Belgian IT team up from 1 to 7 staff.
· Design and implementation of local IT infrastructure in new offices of 4,000 m2
· Designed, implemented and grew corporate E-Mail, Internet and wide area network (frame relay) infrastructure in a rapidly expanding environment whilst maintaining stability and affordability.
· Direct management responsibility for applications staff that successfully implemented and supported ABT project management and SmartStream finance tools.


PROGRAMMER, ABACUS CONSULTING (FICS GROUP) (1993 – 1995)

· C++ development under Microsoft Windows of a financial reporting application used by every bank in Belgium for statutory reporting to the national bank.
· Installation, administration and support of the Abacus Ethernet network and development environment comprised of Novell Netware 3.11 servers, Sun Solaris 2.3 Sybase servers, Internet gateway, SCO UNIX Sybase 10 server and Microsoft Windows NT server running SQL Server.
· Customer site installations of Sybase/SQL Server configurations of Abacus products.



DATA LOGIC LTD DECEMBER 1988 – JANUARY 1993

IT CONSULTANT - OLIVETTI COMPANY, IVREA, ITALY (MARCH 1992 – JANUARY 1993)

· Supporting an Olivetti WAN card configuration tool written in C on various platforms (UNIX SVR4, UNIX V.2, OS/2 and DOS 5.0 and OS/2 Presentation Manager).
· Rewriting this tool for a Windows 3.0 environment.
· UNIX consultancy, particularly on system security and porting and installation of UNIX tools such as the electronic mail reader (ELM) and various news readers (NN and TIN).
· Development of an FMLI interface for the internal distribution of Olivetti products under UNIX.

THE XOPEN COMPANY (DECEMBER 1991 – JANUARY 1992)

Two month project to provide the client and POSIX with test assertion documents for the X400, XDS and XOM specifications.
· Developing UNIX System V.4 awk scripts to parse lists of general assertions and generate instances of each.
· Implementation of the project environment and system administration.

SWIFT TERMINAL SERVICES, LA HULPE, BELGIUM (MARCH 1991 – SEPTEMBER 1991)

Seven months working in a research, tool evaluation and environmental support role as a principal programmer during the requirements' analysis phase for a new international multi-network financial message entry system.
· Exposure to Yourdon methodology using Excelerator CASE tool.
· Extensive knowledge gained of the XL/Doc documentation tool used with Excelerator to produce requirement's documents.
· Evaluation of Teamwork/Framemaker combination prior to the design phase of the project running on SUN IPC SPARC under SunOS.
· Working with PS/2 model 70's and Compaq SystemPro 486/33 running both DOS 4.0 and OS/2 1.3 on LAN (Novell Netware).
· Use of CASE-PM in design of OS/2 Presentation Manager interfaces.

AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVEL SYSTEMS, BRIGHTON, UK (JUNE 1989 - JANUARY 1991)

Developing and supporting software for an airline ticketing system used by American Express. The system is used throughout their European travel offices networked to the European head office in Brighton.
· Analysis of client requirements and designing, coding and testing solutions using C under HP-UX on an HP9000 server.
· Gained good experience in lexical analysis (lex) and parsers (yacc) and developed knowledge of the airline communications protocol IPARS.
· Extensive contact with the client, on the telephone and with site visits to install new releases of the software. Often providing on-call support.
· All work was produced to BS5750 standards.

BRITISH HOME STORES DISTRIBUTION, ATHERSTONE, UK (MAY 1989 - JANUARY 1991)

Working in parallel with the project above developing & supporting software for a distribution system at the UK central warehouse for BHS in Atherstone.
· Analysis of client requirements and designing, coding and testing solutions combined with a degree of 'bug fixing'.
· Coding in FORTRAN IV under RSX 11/M on DEC PDP 11/44.
· All work was carried out to BS5750 standards.


INTERNAL PROJECT (JANUARY 1989 - APRIL 1989)

· Development environment support for a development team working on UNIX servers connected by an Ethernet.
· Writing, modifying and maintaining C programs and shell scripts under various flavours of UNIX (HP-UX, SCO XENIX, BSD 4.3, ULTRIX etc.) on a variety of machines to provide all machines on the network easy access to a central machine acting as a print spooler.
· Required a good understanding of UNIX uucp file transfer facilities and also involved a degree of system administration.


STUDENT PLACEMENT - GEC RESEARCH LABOROTORIES, WEMBLEY, UK 1987

Thirteen-month industrial training assignment as part of university degree course.
· Solely responsible for developing a control system using Pascal and C under RSX 11/M(+) on DEC MicroPDP 11/23 for semiconductor growth by molecular beam epitaxy.
· Involved programming an IEEE-488 interface for use with various sampling and control devices and a Hewlett Packard HPGL plotter.
· Gained experience in instrumentation and electronic measurement techniques.
