Directly responsible for developing a business unit Governance Assurance Risk. In the same period I have been program manager of implementing a new dunning system for one of the larger Belgian collection agencies.

03-2011/03-2012 OXGLO GROUP: CFRO
Chief Financial and Risk Officer at OxglO Group. This is a start-up real estate fund in British residential real estate, focusing on large urban areas. Investors are mainly sought in institutionals and large family offices in an international setting (Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland). As CFRO I was responsible for back office operations, financing, risk and pricing. My main responsibility was assessing the potential profitability of objects and developing business cases.

05-2006/03-2011 SNS REAAL: VP ORM
Deputy head of the dept. Operational Risk Management & Compliance.
• Responsible for:
 the internal and external In Control statements;
 group wide process- and risk analysis;
 managing the outsourced ORM and compliance monitoring activities to the Internal Audit Department;
 Quality Assurance of the Solvency II program.
• Main achievements:
 group wide implementation of COSO ERM;
 implementing Banking code (Code Banken);
 integrating process controls for Basel II, corporate governance and regulatory and legal compliance;
 designing, implementing and coordinating the quarterly business risk report for the Risk Committee of the Supervisory Board.
11-2004/04-2006 SNS BANK: PROGRAMME DIRECTOR
Leading complex programmes on behalf of the board of SNS Bank (reporting directly to the board)
• Main achievements:
 leading an organisation wide program to identify risks and to initiate and implement process improvements;
 group wide implementation of the corporate governance code;
 restructuring the wholesale banking division;
 program director for the group wide implementation of Role Based Access Control (7000+ fte) and a Smartcard solution. With this programme I won the Identity Award 2008.
12-2000/10-2004 SNS REAAL: VP AUDIT
Deputy head of Internal Audit, managing an internal IT audit department of 8 fte.
• Responsible for:
 leading due diligence in several mergers and acquisitions;
 quality assurance in strategic projects;
 liaison with the regulator (DNB, AFM);
 liaison with NVB (Dutch Banking Association).
• Main achievements:
 Project manager of the selection of a new external auditor for SNS REAAL;
 Restructuring and improving the IT Audit department
 Chairman of the NVB (Dutch Banking Association) working groups on XBRL and e-banking.
04-1987/11-2000 ERNST & YOUNG: DIRECTOR
Servicing a client portfolio of mainly financial services (e.g. Rabobank wholesale, Van Lanschot, Interpolis, AXA) , industry (DAF trucks, NEDCAR) and healthcare. Mostly advisory assignments, 30% financial audit related.
• Responsible for:
 the planning and productivity of 20+ auditors;
 planning and coordinating annual accounts audit of Rabobank Nederland;
 pro tem responsible for the IT Audit practice in Belgium (11 fte). In that period I have been stationed in Brussels;
 product leader for “Process analysis and process improvement”
 Responsible for many audits of strategic banking and insurance projects.

Skills

I am result driven and pragmatic. This is grounded in long experience and in depth knowledge of (IT) audit, corporate governance, risk management and process design. I can come up with eminently working out-of-the-box solutions.

In all functions I have managed professionals across cultures with differing backgrounds (e.g. auditors, actuaries, risk managers and lawyers). I have both the experience and the seniority to be convincing.
