 Business assessment and re-structuring for UK based European Sameday courier operator


Formed and ran “Moving Parts” – a specialist importation system of American car parts for private individuals and small companies. This included sourcing, purchase, importation and occasional export under repair return conditions of American car parts.
Provision of Air and Ocean services along with Air Courier into Europe from USA and Canada.
Business sold in 2007

Business Development Director - Installations Division

Non-executive Directorship with full Divisional Board responsibilities working in the high tech industry primarily with Telecoms and Computer companies. Responsibilities included:

Business Development
Divisional responsibility for tenders and RFQ’s from the RFI, the bid process, creation and submission, presentation of solution, close through to implementation.

Major Account Management
Account responsibility for Nortel Networks, Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, T-Mobile.
Support staff included 4 account managers, 2 general account teams, HP account team and Nortel account team including off site implants in Northern Ireland, Germany and several UK locations.

Marketing
Divisional responsibility for Marketing
Liaison with Group Marketing Manager, creation of budgets and programme for each year. Divisional contact for Group PR Company creation of case studies.
Creation of in-house customer database for Group CMR programme.


European Network
Creation, development and management of Pan European specialist installations system

Set up of European Partner Network and Linehaul system in 1997.
Selection of partners including assessment of capabilities and infrastructure.
Partner management through to 2002 including rate negotiation, relationship development and trouble shooting.


YTT GROUP - Owner and Managing Director 1984 - 1996

Allport Adapt - Joint venture with Allport Limited - UK Domestic Technical courier services to sit in line with the specialist installation deliveries made by the Allport Installations division of Allport Limited. Shares sold to Allport Limited in 1996. £1.2 million of new business generated in 14 months of trading.

YTT Distribution - General domestic UK transport forwarder moving into the overnight parcel market. Mix of customers from small manufacturing to larger office suppliers and telecoms companies including STC, Northern Telecom, Samsung and Olivetti.

Provision of specialist service to the microfilm industry. Fast moving business with urgent and bulk deliveries being made to Microfilm Bureaux spread across the UK moving into the IT and telecoms sector as a result of computer technology and resultant decline in microfilm usage.

YTT Couriers - Sameday courier service focusing on urgent telecom spares on 24 hour call out basis developed in the early days of tech courier, swap out, Repair/Return and intelligent driver services.

Wine Bond - Delivery of wine and associated products. In excess of 400,000 cases stored under bond and delivered in to customers warehouses. Mostly full load and inbound container work.
