Work Experience

SRC-Caledon Business Technologies (formerly SRC Software) 1987 2001
Founder and Managing Director

I formed SRC as a one-man company in 1987 to the IBM Midrange user community in The Netherlands. In 1989 I began to expand the company and to specialise in communications software and EDI. The company was an early adopter and developer of Internet e-business software and further specialised in Business to Business solutions. I took courses in sales, business management Human Resource Management, basic Financial Administration etc and the company grew over the years. The company became specialised in data communication and EDI, which are the forerunners of e-business. I formed partnerships with IBM in the Netherlands and Belgium and imported software from the USA (Premenos/Harbinger/Peregrine) and UK (Three X Communications, Syan) to sell and install in Holland. SRC also developed several software products enabling the company to stake a niche in the market. The company grew in size and reputation and now has an international client base numbering more that 500 companies. Clients include Douwe Egberts, Yamaha, Heineken, Canon, ABN AMRO, Amgen, Scania, etc. The clients of SRC are from a diversity of branches and range from very small to large multinationals. Focal areas of the company are e-commerce in supply chain, logistics, manufacturing and distribution. Since 1989 the company has specialised in the IBM AS/400 system but since 1997 has broadened its skill and software base to cover Microsoft and some Unix platforms.

From a technical background I have developed an in depth knowledge of ICT infrastructure and applications in the commercial administrative environment. I have a solid and pragmatic understanding of the fundamentals of commercial computing and years of experience with many and varied applications systems.

In building my company from 1987 until 1999 without external funding I have learned to understand how to build and maintain an efficient organisation. By experience and by study I have developed a management style appropriate to organise and motivate a Dutch and international staff with a very broad range of education and experience. I have earned the respect of my partners, employees and clients. My company has reached the size of 75 employees with three offices in Holland and one in Belgium. SRC has now become one of the few recognised specialists in B2B e-commerce software and services in Holland. Aside from management my activities within SRC have been; designing and developing software, sales and marketing, contract negotiation, international business relationship management, management of human resource, general administration and planning.
