In June 1996 I took the opportunity to go independent to take advantage of developing Internet opportunities based on my communication experience. The USP was and remains the understanding of the human interface with technology and exploiting it to achieve improved take up of new systems. The company is now run by its staff and I pursue independent opportunities in addition to assisting in overall business development.· Formed independent consultancy to manage relationships between emerging companies and receptive markets to enable the development of international agent/partner relationship for product and service representation. · Subsequently developed the MBD Group of companies providing services ranging from simple network supply and installation to strategic communication value-chain and brand management consultancy, implementing new technology solutions in major corporate organizations. Have personally worked closely with senior management teams to enable them to understand the importance of clear communication and how new technologies can help when managed successfully. This has further developed into the management of eBusiness implementations.· Most recent personal assignments have included;o The strategic definition of internal communication strategy (and subsequent implementation of intranet) for a major television broadcastero Communications strategy development for one of the UK franchised rail operatorso Development of team culture and implementation of changes for the European operations of a global, banking software developero Management of operational board communications on behalf of VC as the VP International responsible for the strategic development of subsidiary offices for a German dotcom company o Development of the international sales arm of a Swiss dotcom as VP International

VARIOUS ROLES

During this period of my career I was effectively deployed as a culture-change and technology-transfer agent in a variety of UK and international roles to sharpen commercial focus, expand international representation and deliver new, efficient ways of working based on emerging technologies. These included;· Planning and implementing a new business strategy combining BSI Testing and BSI Product Certification into a single business targeted to increase global income generation from £14m to £25m over a five-year (£12m marketing investment) plan.· Defining and implementing an electronic strategy for the standards production process using electronic systems to enable database publishing of information via a variety of media and e-based workflow solutions. Removed £1.3m from annual cost of sales over a two-year period. Strategic direction and financial delivery of £35M business.· Restructuring global exploitation of intellectual property in British Standards and associated products via international network of third party vendors ranging from subsidiaries to agents. (5% to 45% over two years).· Managing traditional income stream (£18M) through new product management culture to improved planning and financial awareness. Increased sales performance by up to 50% in specific areas.· Introducing marketing concepts and commercial approach to the protection of existing and recruitment of new members to the organization.

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Formed company and negotiated option contracts on land to develop residential housing whilst pursuing an Executive MBA course at Cranfield School of Management. Negotiated exclusive agency agreement for distribution of Swedish timber frame houses. Developed marketing plan for UK product entry of range of house kits. Located manufacturing partner for UK production facility and sold agency rights.

Amersham International, Amersham
PACKAGING AND REGULATIONS MANAGER

Control of transport packaging for worldwide distribution of radioactive products including quality assurance and control systems and regulatory compliance policies. Launched new product packaging, improved product image reduced costs by £250K per year.

June 79-December 1983 (4½ Years)
Durotan Limited, Buckingham
CONTRACTS MANAGER, GENERAL MANAGER

Specialist engineering pipeline installations. Designed and launched two new product ranges to the UK and European markets. Increased gross profit margin from 20% to 33% and profit from £30K to £400K over three-year period. Appointed General Manager of associate company in addition to Contract Manager responsibilities.
