Description of duties

As a project leader Software I was responsible for generation and approval of the M65 (Xcite sports GSM) Software. The project lead is the ‘diplomat’ who balances device approval in several customization areas, but always taking into account never to affecting sales quantities. Change request management herein is a big portion of the customer ‘tension fields’.

As of sept. 2004, I am PL within the UMTS segment for launching a new 3G phone onto the early 2006 market. Areas to be covered are, requirement management, production and (key account operator) customization for Vodafone, TMO and Orange.

Product : Reticle Handling subsystem for Twinscan

Duration : 08/2002 until 07/2003

Function : Project Leader Technique

Description of duties

My primary duty was to re-structure the Reticle Handler (RH) project, since in succession 2 Projectleaders became overstrained. When I started, the project was out of control.
I started by re-instating the project team, defining roles, making a project plan as communicated with the end-customer and defining post-conditions of the integration plan. Then, since the many problems lead to unstructured deliveries, I’ve institutionalised mono team-leaders and chief designers in the project. The chief designers being responsible for prioritising the problems to a top 10 (instead of a top 200) and the team-leaders for setting up resource plans. On a daily basis, together with me, we managed these plans.
As a result of these actions the project became controllable again and clear targets were defined. Customers within the organisation were satisfied, and the deliveries were accomplished.

Other duties I was responsible for include keeping the budget, defining resources, configuration management (CCB, ECR (engineering change requests)), cost impact assessment, reporting to higher management and taking part in several product teams.

All sub modules of the reticle handling subsystem were placed under my control as well as new future developments in close co-operation with marketing and sales.

Keywords:
Setting up project using the PGP, CCB, ECR process and cost-analysis. Communication skills and motivating project team, GANTT/PERT planning, PMP.

Product : Illumination subsystem for Twinscan

Duration : 08/2001 until 07/2002

Function : Project Leader integration B Architecture for Twinscan

Description of duties

The architecture of several modules of the Twinscan machine limited the speed of the machine. In order to overcome this bottleneck a severe upgrade to a faster architecture was required. The goal of the project I managed was to upgrade the centre of the machine, the illuminator and its lens control.
A complete architectural integration plan was required and therefore, my primary duty was to generate this plan. In order to do so, a PMP was written by me and reviewed with the corresponding product team. GANTT chart management, depicting the critical path and managing this path was daily routine in the complete project leaders team (+10 PLs). Post condition of the project was a completely on specification working Twinscan – B machine, therefore the integration-phase was a very important issue. Managing all required pre-conditions at forehand and defining all integration actions and their post-conditions was the way the integration plan was set up by me. I used it to have clear and unambiguous communication between all parties.

Keywords:
The generation of a Project Management Plan, close communication in the project and with other projects using clear and unambiguous structure (including MOM), generation of a multi-project dependencies integration plan, using GANTT.
