BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT / PROGRAM AND COST MANAGEMENT
• Advise the management about increasing AVR’s EBIT and Shareholders Value.
• Conduct conceptual studies, develop business cases, conduct financial analysis and draw up investment plans.
• The first business case (50% estimate) - green energy - has been presented to the management. This business case (investment ± € 3 million) has an EBIT of € 2,6 million per year, NPV of € 13 million, IRR of 58% and a simple payback time of 1 year.

AVR ROTTERDAM
• Responsible for specifying new projects and for introducing a new project team on site.

Position : Consultant Project, Cost & Performance Management

COST REDUCTION AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
• A conceptual analysis - which covered the utilities costs of the whole site - was conducted.
• Based on a forecast of the costs and consumption of utilities an increase in the costs per utility was identified. Several projects and an action plan were drawn up to achieve cost reduction of utilities (especially gas, steam and electricity).
• After presenting the results to the site management, the projects were approved for implementation.

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS AND INVESTMENT PLAN (PRODUCTION EXTENSION)
• A financial analysis and overview for the investment in a Hot Oil Unit were worked out.
• The results were presented to both the site management and the management at the U.S.A. headquarters.
• The investment plan was approved.

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS AND INVESTMENT PLAN (COST REDUCTION AND ENERGY SAVING)
• Conducted a conceptual study to reduce costs of natural gas and excess heat loss at the Waste Incinerator.
• Comparison of “Best Available Technologies” to replace or optimize the Waste Incinerator.
• A financial analysis and overview for/of the investment in a Waste Heat Steam Boiler that will be connected to the Incinerator were worked out.
• The results were presented to both the site management and the management at the U.S.A. headquarters. The investment plan has been approved.
• This project has a NPV of € 2 million and IRR of 37%.

MANAGEMENT SUPPORT PROCESS ENGINEERING GROUP
a) General management support concerning the stipulated targets on energy saving, cost reduction, energy efficiency, etc.
b) Trend analysis of utility consumption and costs, increase awareness of employees, etc.
3) Period : September 2005
Company : Perfetti Van Melle Benelux B.V. Breda / TRS Staffing B.V.
Discipline : Process Engineering
Position : Consultant Process Technology

I conducted some projects for the “International Engineering Group” in Breda.
For Perfetti Van Melle Indonesia:
• Re-calculated the complete wastewater treatment plant (aerobic and EGSB anaerobic);
• Provided advices to expand and to optimize the wastewater treatment plant;

For Perfetti Van Melle Rumania:
• Calculated heat balances with steam and water systems;
• Worked out investment plans for a cooling and heating system;
• Pressure drop calculation for an air compressor system. Provided advices in order to optimize this system.

For Perfetti Van Melle Breda:
• Calculated heat balances;
• Calculated a vacuum transportation system.


4) Period : August 2005 – September 2005
Company : Kerry Ingredients B.V. in Breda / Payroll Services B.V.
Discipline : Project & Costs Management and Process Engineering
Position : Consultant Project & Costs Management and Process Technology

Phase 2; In depth study and validation of the results:
• Analysis of bills;
• Conduct measurements within the steam and the water systems;
• Basic engineering;
• Specification of machines and discussions with suppliers;
• Work out investment plans including the calculation of cost-prices, return on investment, exploitation costs and savings.

By implementing the recommendations in phase 2, some of the processes at Kerry Ingredients will be optimized. Due to this, a considerable saving will be realized on the costs of steam, natural gas, ground - and wastewater. The return on investment is far under 18 months.


5) Period : May 2005 – July 2005
Company : Kerry Ingredients B.V. in Breda / Payroll Services B.V.
Discipline : Project & Costs Management and Process Engineering
Position : Consultant Cost Management and Process Technology
Phase 1; Scan:
• Analysis of the relevant production- and business processes with the objective to optimize these processes and to reduce costs. The return on investment should be maximum 18 months;
• Analysis of bills, permits and working procedures;
• Consumption analysis of wastewater, auxiliary matter and utilities (water, electricity, steam and natural gas).
6) Period : February 2004 – April 2005
Company : McKinnon & Clarke B.V.
Discipline : Project Management, Process-, Environmental- and Water Technology
Position : Consultant Project - and Cost Management / Process Engineering

Main activities were:
• Business Development.
Build up the client portfolio and generate revenue for the Water department in both The
Netherlands and Spain;
• Analysis of the production processes with the objective to optimize and to reduce costs;
• Analysis of bills and permits;
• Conduct Basic engineering;
• Discussions with suppliers and governmental institutions;
• Work out investment plans and identify possibilities for financial aid.

The projects were conducted on site at multinationals and mid size companies in the Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Belgium.


7) Period : February 2003 – November 2003

Position : Interim Project Manager

The most important activities were:
• SWOT-analysis of Werklijn Breda;
• Developed and implemented new working methods for the organization;
• Daily coaching of 3 co-workers;
• Developed new projects for the employment market using my technical background;
• Acquisition and after-sales;
• Responsible for some commercial activities of the company.

Drafted off to an engineering company:

Koch HC Partnership (Chemical plant):
• Study to optimize a naphtha/water separation process that consisted of prefilters, coalescers and separators. The study has been closed with a written report in both Dutch and English.

Waterweg Consultants (Consultancy):
• Simulation and basic engineering of a new vapor return system to be built in the Middle East. When finished, this will be the biggest vapor return system in the world.


10) Period : 1997 - 2002

During this period I worked on different projects, amongst other:

• Process design for wastewater treatment systems with the objective to reuse the treated water for irrigation.
• Pilot study to produce hygienic-water from groundwater by using reverse osmosis (RO).
• Different feasibility- and literature studies to optimize biological wastewater treatment units.
• Pilot study to desalinate groundwater by using reverse osmosis.

Steinhart:
• Optimization of Capatch

Galvin (Galvanic Company):
• Pilot study to extend the life of degreasing baths by using ultra filtration.

Syntens (Innovation center):
• Feasibility study to separate/purify liquid manure by using ultrafiltration.
• Feasibility study to separate water from oil at high temperature (70 º C) and high pH (12-13). Process water and special detergents were recycled.


11) Period : August 1996 – June 1997

• Feasibility study to optimize the cooling water system.
• Study of the rate of purification of the microorganisms in the biomass of the biological wastewater treatment plant.

During college, I worked temporarily at Grada:
• Study to determine if there were possibilities to reduce costs of production and to improve production quality. The main focus was to reduce and to recycle waste.

Traineeship:
• Study of the techniques to remove volatile organic (VOC’s) compounds from waste vapors.


OTHER RELEVANT EXPERIENCES
• Suppliers line of business:
I have experience with suppliers of process and environmental products from the U.S.A., Europe and Asia. I have conducted studies and projects where filters, pumps, ultraviolet disinfection units, ozone units, special bacteria, membranes, detonation flame arresters, coalescers and separators were used.

I have welcomed a delegation of Mitsubishi Rayon from Japan in the Netherlands. Mitsubishi Rayon is specialized in among others the fabrication of special membranes for the purification of water and wastewater. I delivered a lecture about ultra filtration separation and also organized a tour at two companies for the delegation.

• Environmental friendly oxidation and disinfection techniques:
I conducted a study at different applications of ultraviolet disinfection and ozone both as standalone technique as in combination with other techniques.

• Biological processes:
I gained in depth experience in biological processes where special bacteria degrade organic and inorganic contamination in wastewater and contaminated soil.

On invitation of a French company “Gamlen”, I went to France to obtain more information about and to have a tour at projects where they were using special bacteria to clean wastewater and contaminated soil.
