Currently managing multiple project streams to deliver a new working environment at Allen & Overy. These radically alter remote working, office working, security of data, global networking, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, working practices and exploitation of Internet technologies. I am principally responsible for all infrastructure project streams and I have 5 project managers reporting directly to me. I control the infrastructure budget of £7.5m and account monthly for it to the enterprise steering group.

- Global Intruder Detection system using ISS Realsecure.

Job Title : Senior Project Manager

My position involved developing the processes and procedures behind ML's migration of their global Market Data operations to their new financial centre at 2 King Edward Street. My responsibility was to develop a resilient infrastructure to support upwards of 2000 trading positions. To manage all stages of the project cycle from inception, proof of concept, financials, justifications, and resources through to planning, documentation, ordering, procedures and processes. I directly managed the migration efforts of 73 vendors including, Reuters, Thompson and Bloomberg, as well as synergising with disparate parts of the ML technology business. The larger vendors were comprehensive projects in their own right, so I was provided with dedicated resources from the vendors themselves. In addition, I had a project team of 3 directly reporting project managers, plus a dotted line to 3 other project teams working for me. Deliverables accomplished:

- Completed the Project Definition criteria from the business case.
- Devised the project processes and procedures underlying delivery using structured project methodologies. (Based on Prince and SSADM.)
- Devised technical documentation standards
- Devised 3rd party market data networking solution architectures and their integration into Merrill Lynch's MAN.
- Set up Service Level Agreements and financial contracts with 3rd party vendors
- Liaised with disparate Merrill business units to get buy in for major technical change.
- Communication and presentations at executive level.
- Resolved contractual and financial issues with service contracts and SLA's.

Working with a team of Anderson consultants I employed highly structured and disciplined consultancy methods to build from the ground up, a team of technical resources and managers that could consistently and successfully deliver projects and considerably enhance the reputation of IT infrastructure within Henderson Investors.

- Implemented Service Level Agreements for IT Service support to the Hendeson front office.
- Produced reports defining financial case, business justifications, cost constituents and budgets.
- Produced Business Terms of Reference and Project Definitions for all projects.
- Created IT Service models and procedures for Helpdesk, 1st & 2nd line, Order Processing, Desktop, Servers, Network, Market Data and Infrastructure.
- Managed own cost centre, resources, managers, contractors, and 3rd party service providers. (£800k)
- Defined project processes, procedures, risks, assumptions, milestone tracking, project gates, budget timelines and so on.
- Implemented project tracking and change management procedures across all IT.

- Showcased innovative Infrastructure solutions for market data. And championed a very large network upgrade to the board directly. This involved formal presentations and public speaking.
- Implemented fledgling Internet and Intranet sites as part of Henderson's E-Commerce initiative.
- Integrated Apple Macintosh technologies into mainstream IT Infrastructure. (£100k)
- Relocated key investments teams to different offices across London.
- Network infrastructure upgrade [Shared to Switched hubs, ATM backbones, Fibre links, CAT 5, Routers and so on]. (£800k)
- NT4 Desktop standardisation using Netware Application Launcher (NAL) for 600 users. (£1.5m)
- Rolled out Lotus Notes mail and disinvested Ms Mail across the business (750).

Although team sizes varied, I had 6 direct reports and 70 indirect ones. All of the above was accomplished using a blend of strong technical skill married to a deep understanding of the re-uirements of the business. I utilised Anderson project methods throughout including, project definitions, project planning, milestone tracking, monitoring, reviewing, resoucing, escalating, and decision-making. With so many staff across many streams this role re-uired strong interpersonal skills and substantial political awareness.

International relocations and rationalisations
In addition to the above, I worked internationally in Dublin, Tokyo and Singapore providing infrastructure services into Henderson's new greenfield operations in those countries. After putting out ITT's to local companies in these offices, I directly selected the best service providers. I managed their bids, proposals and contracts on behalf of Henderson Global Investors. This involved making presentations to the business showcasing whole solutions both from a business and technical perspective.

I worked directly with the architects, electricians, engineers, telecom and local IT suppliers, to create fully functional Henderson Offices. (£700k). In Tokyo, I was provided with a translator whenever I had meetings with 3rd Party executives and engineers and I managed all aspects of the delivery producing the SLAs, making sure they worked, all plans, procedures, documents, international money transfers, budgets, justifications, dealing with Compaq Singapore, CSC in Ausralia, Nipon Libertec, and so on. I reported globally to AMP executives in Australia, Singapore, Tokyo and London.

Reuters National Division is one of Reuter's main revenue earners. I worked alongside the sales team developing innovative ways of installing Reuters products in their customers environments. For example, I created the open systems network design for implementing real time data and historical data [in-house] on a model network.
