Production Launch Manager, IBC Vehicles Ltd (part of GM), Luton (UK) May 00 - Present

Part of the Vehicle Launch Management Team from GM and Renault, I have the brief to ensure plant actions take place. The work cuts across operational units of Press, Body, Paint, Gen Assy and Logistics aswell as support functions of Quality, Aftersales and HR. Specific responsibilities include:
Implementing Logistics plans
Installing and managing Launch specific plant KPI’s
Co-ordinate operator training and vehicle launch build scheduling
Coach key non-compliant suppliers (in Plant requirements)
Interface with Renault for day-to-day new issues (on behalf of the plant)
Deputise for the Works Manager at Launch Steering Committee


Logistics Planning Manager, IBC Vehicles Ltd), Luton (UK) / Paris (France) July 98 - April 00

Part of a JV team from GM and Renault tasked to introduce a new vehicle in 2001. I lead a Logistics group of 15 people from France and UK with a spend of £10m. My time was spent 50/50 France and England. The work covered:
Implementing World Class on site logistics practices exceeding best GM and Renault sites
Install 24hr vehicle dock facility with slot time deliveries from around Europe.
Procure and install material handling equipment for over 20 work areas (FLT etc)
Install Radio Data Technology within General Assembly and some parts of Car Body Shop.
Transform part packaging on existing and new parts covering 2500 part numbers
Install a Small Parts Management system and sequencing centre worth £3.5m annual spend.
Lead training solutions for over 120 Logistics personnel

My role was to project manage the full logistics scope during the life cycle of the vehicle planning and launching to the overall Programme Director based in Paris, France.

Logistics Development Manager, Perkins Engines, Peterborough (UK) Feb 96 – June 98

Part of a £25 M investment aimed at transforming the Logistics and assembly process for the 4 & 6 Litre engine families. I was responsible for leading a multi – disciplinary team delivering:
8 Crane automatic warehouse store and supply of material handling equipment for 15 work groups
Introduction of new Warehouse Management Software and 40 piece site Radio Technology
Installing 24hr vehicle docking facility and Kanban, sequencing and exact picking techniques
Introduction of Transforming the material containerisation from supplier to point of use
Training of over 100 people
Full Benchmarking Studies covering automotive, food and white goods retailing

I have been involved in the full life cycle of the project, which is the largest Logistics and assembly investment within the organisation impacting every function.

Part of a new department developing logistics and continuous improvement solutions by implementing key projects involving site and 1st tier automotive suppliers and 3rd party specialists:
Vendor Stocking on site policy for overseas suppliers (USA, Germany, UK)
Kanban supply method of miscellaneous components saving £100K inventory
Project engineered £1m transport contract
Re-engineered in-house MRP system and implementing level demand scheduling
