Work Experience

I. From the seventies till the eighties: Permanent jobs

a)TARCO
After his studies, Mr joined a family company TARCO specialized in sophisticated chemical treatments (water and corrosion problems) and general issues. There he is nominated manager for the department ‘water treatment’.
During his assignment, a project for the development of an automated cutting machine (robot) was launched and due to his technical abilities and interests in that matter, Mr asked his management to be designated to bear the responsibility of development and research leader in this new field in Belgium. After three years the team completed the project.

b)IEE.
Leaving TARCO, Mr joined IEE, a Dutch Management Consultancy Company, as a Business Analyst. He was asked to make surveys in factories in order to make proposals for an improved organization and higher productivity. From analyst he promoted to manager of a team of five consultants operating in the Benelux market, involved in the implementation of various projects in small and medium size companies. Being confronted to the new possibilities of emerging computerisation he decided to seek employment with a computer manufacturer.

c)NCR – District Manager.
Mr was successful in gaining employment with NCR and after nine months of ITC training involving informatics and specific product knowledge, started to operate as a district-manager leading a team of four.

d)I.S.T. – Institute for Scientific Technology.
Mr decided to join this institute specialising in management services as he wished to be more involved in consultancy. He was outsourced to various companies of the ‘top 500’ charged to make surveys concerning commercial, administrative, financial, production matters and to implement thereafter improvements based on methodologies and techniques aiming to optimize existing situations in order to increase productivity and/or profit.

e)Control Data Corporation (CDC) .
Mr was hired by CDC to support Management, Engineering and Scientific software, covering Linear Programming applications, Statistical analysis, Project Management, Simulations for engineering and financial purposes, and Data Bases.
He pioneered the introduction in Europe of an automated shop floor scheduling tool created by Dr. Goldratt, OPT.

f)Cincom Systems International. – Unit Manager.
Mr organized CINCOM’s unit for ‘professional services’ consisting in interviewing, recruiting, outsourcing top level analysts, consultants, programmers to support their data base software for financial/manufacturing/administrative applications. He supervised the implementation of generic MRPS, their Manufacturing Resource Planning System, to industry clients.

II From the eighties until today: Free-lancer - Contracter -Interim Manager

a)Interim Manager for an IBM agent
Active during 1 year installing Mapics and Copics (Manufacturing Control software).

Reorganization of the sales strategy

c)MPS- Data Warehousing – Interim Office manager
Mr was hired by MPS to open and manage a Benelux office to support their existing Data Dictionaries for top clients and to open new markets. He managed quite well as their revenue increased dramatically during this period.

d) TOTAL INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR A DUTCH PC MANUFACTURER (1,5 year) – Interim Manager
Redesign of the manufacturing and distribution issues, with specific complex forecasting and master scheduling constraints triggering an optimized stock management. In charge of the manufacturing team.
Software Selection (10 packages) + in-house development.

e)3 Car manufacturers: Free- lance consultant.
Development of a new methodology and related software for pulling the materials to the production lines of a car manufacturer in function of flexible manufacturing constraints integrating push-pull concepts, kanban, JIT

f)Chemical multinational: Free-lance Consultant.
Design for a new concept for a chemical multinational in relation to production planning.
Business Process Redesign related to complex production planning issues.

g)TOTAL CIM-PROJECT FOR THE GLASS INDUSTRY (Dutch Company – Interim Manager
Functional Design of a complete ERP-system, integrating the optimization of glass cutting with planning at infinite capacity and scheduling at finite capacity.

h)PRODUCTION PLANNING FOR THE PAPER INDUSTRY – Interim Manager
BPR of the flow of materials. Integration of planning at infinite capacity with finite capacity considering paper cutting optimizations and complex Master Production Scheduling constraints.


i)NATO (Defense) – Interim manager.
ERP consultant during the Process Redesign of the logistics flows. Planning of maintenance, distribution and production of spare parts. Billing and Invoicing. SAP oriented.

j)PHARMACEUTICALS AND CHEMICALS - Consultant
Functional ERP expert during the implementation of SAP/R3 (migration from SAP/R2) related to the reorganization of the distribution of pharmaceutical products for a German multinational (MM,SD,PS). Business Process Redesign, Functional analysis, Data analysis, etc. Intensive in-house ERP education.
The consultant achieved a stock optimization of 30%.

k)WASTE HANDLING INDUSTRY (home, industry, water) – Interim Manager
Design of a planning and scheduling tool for flows of to be treated waste streams coming from home and industry integrated with an activity based costing and budgeting system, so to be able to determine cost prices per project in a pro-active way, and detect discrepancies between calculated standard cost price and ABC cost.

l)COATED PAPER INDUSTRY – Interim Manager
Design of a new integrated computer manufacturing software comprising materials optimization and specific planning and scheduling functions for the production and distribution of coated paper taking into account all the manufacturing constraints.

m)GOVERNMENTAL PROJECT (Belgian Ministry of Flemish Community)
Editor of the final report for SIEMENS written to select a financial-logistics software .
Creator of the Quantified Selection Methodology required to make a choice between SAP/R3 and ORACLE.

n)DEVELOPMENT OF THE MODELLER ‘QP’ - PROJECT MANAGER.
Animated by artificial intelligence ‘QP’ detects costs in excess taking into account the most complex planning constraints imposed by sales, purchasing, production and distribution, in order to better organize the usage of resources and the flow of materials through the several production units, work centers and warehouses, whose layouts can be adapted if required. Linkable to SAP and other software.
