Lead business analyst for an implementation of an enterprise wide budgeting and modelling application. Responsible for summarising a shortlist post package evaluation, current process mapping, conceptual business process design, functional specification, design mgt, integration strategy and business case. Web based application (suppliers evaluated included Adaytum, Commshare, Longview & Hyperion). Longview Khalix selected.

Produced a business systems options paper to stream-line the cheque requisition process, which is the process for requesting and approving cheque payments. Involved exploiting a web based invoice processing system (ASP, MTS & SQL), which interfaces (SNA/XCOM) to a mainframe based legacy accounts payable and general ledger application. A combination of web enablement, system integration and bringing cheque printing in house will result in a positive ROI and pay back period of 1.89 years.

In parallel with the ongoing implementation of Smartstream Purchasing. Involved in the early stages of an IT strategic review for the M&S Design Studio who design the packaging for M&S food, visuals and merchandise. Involved identification of business objectives, critical success factors, activity flow modelling & gap analysis. To date we have identified a single logical workflow covering all departments that can be supported by an integrated systems architecture to provide the following functions supplier payment, project management, project/management accounting, financial accounting , procurement of time/materials/labour & computer aided design. As M&S begin to offer a more varied range the department will need top reduce lead-times and maximise the use of resources along a critical path.

Lead IT business analyst/project leader on the exploitation and corporate rollout of applications (package & bespoke) to support the Finance Shared Services Non Merchandise Payment Strategy. Business objectives include a reduction in cost per transaction, consistent financial control, multi-currency, prevent an escalation in running costs for the payment service and move towards single through invoice processing along a migration path towards e-procurement. M&S procure 1 billion pounds worth of goods for operations, maintenance, repairs and services purposes. Developed using GEAC Smartstream ERP (procurement, fixed assets and projects module) for NT on SQL 7 with integration to mainframe GEAC millennium financials (AP, GL, AR). Involves benefits driven project definition, design, requirements analysis, change management, development life-cycle (RAD/JAD) and enabling B2B e-commerce (XML & Biztalk). Project delivered across the company (Personel, Corporate Communications, M&S Direct, Marketing, Facilities, Estates, European Subsidiaries, Paris, Cologne & Madrid) in a high risk and chaotic environment due to the commercial situation. Threw the rulebook out of the window ļ. Due to complete May 2001.

Lead IT business analyst on stream-lining the foods supplier payment process. Positioning for web based invoicing for food and general merchandise. Involves project definition, design, requirements analysis, development life-cycle (RAD/JAD) and strategic review. Final budget secured 1.25 million with payback period of 2 years. Developed using the Huron Objectstar toolset includes integration with the Microsoft Back Office product set. The final application will pay 50 million + in any currency per week to the M&S food supplier base. First phase set to start April 2001.

Compiled and presented workshops covering the project management life-cycle to the M&S Finance Shared Service user community. Topics covered include project inception, definition, execution and closure. Also covered project organisation, change management, risk management, impact assessment, cost control, progress control and post implementation review.

Contributing editor to the M&S internal IT magazine Onsite. Published articles include e-commerce and data warehousing. My work on Onsite and interest in e-commerce led to a request from the Head Of E-commerce at M&S to identify and define an e-strategy based on the works of Don Tapscott, Bill Gates, Michael da Silvere and the Institute of Marketing.

Organised several seminars for the Finance IT Group, which included Lateral Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence, Microsoft KM & Digital Dashboard, KPMG Enterprise Application Integration.

IT project manager on the project definition exercise for the search & selection of a distributed package solution. To support the administration of procurement transactions captured via a smart card. Involved RFI, RTT, package and supplier evaluation. Recommended definition of a non merchandise procurement strategy before considering appropriate applications.

IT project manager responsible for the 1st phase corporate roll-out of the new M&S fixed asset register and Store Food Accounting Automation Application. Also includes Y2K/Euro compliance activities. Managing the CAP Gemini service delivery team for fixed asset register implementation and an internal development team for Store Food Accounting Automation. Both based on client-server technology. NT server/workstation, SQL server, SNA, VB6 using Active Server Page software technology. First of its kind at M&S.

Transferred to the KPMG World Class IT strategy group. Part of a project team responsible for the risk/change management for the transition from an outsourced IT function to a new FM supplier. Total project budget 800k+.

Project Manager. Responsible for a 5 - 20 man team. Ensuring the delivery of IT projects to time, budget and quality. Duties include project planning , resourcing, team building, team leadership, quality assurance, team development and client management. Involved all aspects of the software development lifecycle using PICK Databasic. Average project worth about 400k. Involved hands on development.

Consultant. EDI. Responsible for the enabling of an EDI pilot scheme. My role included assessing the viability of EDI and the capability of EDI users within the proposed value added network to take on board and utilise EDI technology. Involved looking at web technology.

Consultant. Migration Strategy. The client plans to move from P/I Open to a RDBMS post 2000 (D/3, SQL, Universe or Unidata). The role included advising the client on setting up a working group with the sole purpose of producing a migration strategy in line with the principles of dynamic systems planning. Primary focus on network computing to enable electronic commerce business opportunities such as dis-intermediation, and enfranchising.

Consultant. Groupware. Having identified a workflow within the KPMG maintenance and client team. Produced a business case on how Lotus Notes and virtual team working could make the workflow more effective. The deliverable was an issues management system.

Consultant. Electronic Commerce. Produced a discussion paper on how the internet and related technology could streamline and improve the service offered to the IBEA¡¦s internal and external customers. Resulted in becoming part of the Agency¡¦s long term IT strategy. Now responsible for the design and presentation of prototypes to the client at board level in effort to convince them of the business benefits. The objective of the project is to web enable the IBEA front end systems. Such a project will ensure the client could become the leading paying agency to in Europe and run a more cost effective service.

Consultant. Y2k assessment. Advised the client on an approach to ensure their front end systems were year 2000 compliant.

IT Consultant. Responsible for the analysis, design, development and implementation of complex IT solutions on a large dynamic unix based computer system for the IBEA. Hands on development using PICK Databasic.
