Board responsibility for Logistics, Supply Chain and IT in a very fast moving £100 million turnover supplier of food products to the major grocery multiples.
Executed a change of logistics service providers from Eddie Stobart to City Logistics and FDRC.
Successfully relocated warehouses (30,000 pallets of stock), whilst maintaining customer service.

Co-ordinated the replacement of 60% of the companies staff, necessitated by the move.

Interim role acting as Director of Logistics; developed logistics strategy for a successful and fast growing, predominantly Internet based, direct to consumer retailer with a unique business model.
Conceived and developed a pioneering, cost effective, flexible and scalable multi-warehousing methodology to support the UK and International strategy.
Specified, sourced and planned implementation of IT Systems to support the warehousing strategy, whilst integrating with front and back office systems, utilising web enabled technology.
Re-engineered packaging to enhance brand image and maximise deliveries through the letterbox, also researched alternative "final mile" solutions for larger deliveries.

Headed Logistics, IT and Inventory Management functions throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with European Logistics, IT and Inventory Managers reporting directly to me.
Consolidated all European warehouses into a single operation in the Netherlands, saving $1.5m pa.
Implemented ERP system (JBA) in all Western European subsidiaries within 18 months.
Overhauled the entire European IT infrastructure to create a robust, Y2K compliant environment.

Created European Wide Area Network and standardised Local Area Networks within Europe.
Improved forecasting, purchasing and circulation of stock in the region, saving $3m pa.

Developed logistics strategy for Storehouse to take them into the next millennium.
Internal consultancy and special projects for Bhs and Mothercare, including:
Improved flow through the supply chain by auditing of major suppliers’ logistics capabilities and persuading them to make changes as appropriate.
Co-ordinated with Bhs merchandisers to achieve optimum in-store stock availability.
Liaised with the Bhs Christmas Shop team to devise supply chain strategies for peak times.
Devised and successfully implemented a customer order system for lighting.
Project Managed implementation of two Warehouse Management Systems for export stock.

Pedigree Petfoods: £2.2 million p.a. dedicated warehousing contract in a rail linked warehouse
Prestige Ltd: £1.8 million p.a., dedicated warehousing and national distribution contract.
Norweb: £800k p.a., dedicated warehousing contract, servicing their “Out of Town” stores.
Shared user site at Carfin, Motherwell. £3 million budget, warehousing, consolidated distribution fleet and dedicated vehicles. Customers included: Mars, CCSB, Index, Comet, RHM, Lees and Alcan.
