HR business partner to the local management team and several functional leaders. Specific assignment: ensure continuation of the HR function, policy development and deployment, improve quality and the quantity of HR’s output (results), focus on filling revenue generating (QB) positions in the Dutch sales group, giving support laying the foundation of a future management – and employee self service model in combination with the country co-ordination of a SAP-HR implementation in the Netherlands.

Avaya is a global enterprise communications company. It designs, manufactures and sells Internet Protocol (IP) telephony systems, communications software applications and services.

Accountable for HR in the Netherlands and the Nordic region, HR Business Partner for several functional lines in EMEA.
Member of the HR Leadership Team in EMEA and responsible for leading a small team of HR Advisors. Responsible for providing guidance and assistance over a broad spectrum of the HR discipline; special programs, performance management, annual merit increase process, resolving issues and problems, recruitment, training en development, cultural integration, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations.

Some specific achievements were:
• Building an applications team in EMEA; set up Call Center in the Netherlands with Telesales agents – native German speakers, selling to German market);
• Contributed to the acquisition of a German Telecom company Tenovis (from KKR) in the Benelux ; due diligence, works council negotiations, restructuring, integration and harmonization of compensation and benefits;
• Transfer in undertaking: sale of Systimax (subsidiary of Avaya) to CommScope;
• Sales capabilities upgrade program: from pushing boxes (old school sales competencies) to solution and consultative sales (major overhaul of sales force);
• Project SAP implementation, Outsourcing HR administration to third party (Convergys) and drove employee/management Self Service concept in remit.


Sept 2001 – Febr 2003 HR Manager Nordic Region, Nortel Networks AB (Stockholm, Sweden)
Nortel Networks designs, manufactures and sells networking solutions for service providers and enterprise customers.

• Responsible for providing HR Services to assigned remit in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland;
• Successfully managed headcount restructuring in the Nordics;
• Provided assistance with the headcount restructuring in the Netherlands;
• Managed team of 2 HR Advisors plus admin staff in Stockholm office.
