Apr 2012 - present:
Since April 2012 I am the interim CPO at UWV (governmental body involved in executing social services in the Netherlands) I introduced a reorganization of the procurement department (50 FTE -> 40 FTE), a cost reduction program on their total spend of almost €1 bln annually; and I introduced a category management methodology as the new standard way of working.

For KPN international I restructured the procurement department and their processes to create a higher margin and EBITDA (increase of >40%) in a 4 month period.
Dec 2010 – Sep 2011
At the Corporate Procurement department for FrieslandCampina as member of the global MT in my role as Corporate Procurement Director Indirect I am responsible for all non-product related (NPR) spend (€1.2 bln annual spend). The NPR team of consists of 14 indirect and 6 direct reports in respective subcategories: Marketing & Communication, Facility Management, Professional Services and ICT. The team mainly consists of buyers that operate on the tactical and strategic level. In my responsibility as CPD I defined and executed the corporate procurement strategy for NPR, I developed longterm relationships with the more strategic suppliers and I was fully and primarily involved and responsible for the outsourcing of the Purchase to Pay (PtP) process to an external party offshore.
Feb 2010 – Sep 2011
As Category Manager ICT at Royal FrieslandCampina I was responsible for completing the 5 biggest ICT outsourcing contracts in the company’s history. In 2010 we signed global contracts for the Wide Area Network (data network), printers and copiers, workplace solution, a new SAP template, a data center solution (cloud computing). The total value of these contracts is estimated on €250 mio. It was the beginning of a change process to one standardized, consolidated and harmonized solution within the no. 1 multi-national Dairy cooperation that merged (Dec 2008) to form a € 8,5 bln company with 20.000 employees. Next to the full responsibility of the ICT procurement strategy I recruited my team of ICT buyers. The team consisted of 4 FTEs and an intern that reported directly to me.
Jun 2009 – Jan 2010
Being on of the 5 International Procurement Managers we had a direct reporting line towards T-Systems International GmbH. My main responsibilities were:
a) to support the Big/Major Sales deals (> € 100 mio contract value);
b) to perform Due Diligences before an outsourcing opportunity;
c) to develop and execute Vendor Strategies;
d) to support the local business units in optimizing their existing inventory.
This international role was associated with international travelling of approx. 70% of the time. Because of my international knowledge on legal and languages I was the primary point of contact for all due diligence activities throughout the European leads for T-Systems International.

Feb 2008 – May 2009
As a direct report to the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) and at the start of a huge change process within the whole company, I was responsible for all large (mainly ICT related) projects initiated in the subsidiaries of Stork. The role of Sr. Category Manager involved the introduction of major changes of the processes and governance models. This role was mainly focusing on the Dutch part (95%) of Stork. In this role I had 1 junior and 1 medior reporting directly to me.

Jan 2006 – Dec 2007 Global Purchaser at Royal Numico N.V. in Amsterdam
As Global Purchaser at Royal Numico NV I was a direct report to the Global Purchasing Director for Indirect Spend categories; I was responsible for all logistics and ICT related spend and purchases worldwide. Together with the corporate ICT department and the corporate Warehousing & Distribution department, we nominated preferred (strategic) suppliers the affiliates can make use of, and monitored their performances; with these suppliers I developed long term relationships and looked for expansion opportunities. This was associated with about 80% of international travel. In this job I also mentored to 2 colleagues and coached 3 other colleagues.

Jun 2002 – Jan 2006
Senior Buyer at Telfort B.V. in Amsterdam
Directly reporting to the Director Procurement, and in the last year to the CFO, I initiated, managed and chaired 4 of the 5 largest outsourcing and change projects within Telfort. Main focus area was NPR spend. By building strategic relationships with suppliers involved I realized > 50% spend reduction and the Services Levels remained or increased. The total annual spend on these contracts was € 300 Mio before spend reductions. An example of a huge change project was the outsourcing of 200 FTE in the ICT department to an external supplier associated with a spend reduction of € 89 mio annually to €31 mio annually.

I was fully responsible for the biggest change in the returned goods supply chain, resulting in a reduction of costs together with an increase in customer satisfaction.
